Our own automotive Porsche journey began 17 years ago when we owned our first air-cooled 911, a Guards Red 1988 3.2 Carrera rocking a bad ass whale tale…
This was back in our youth, when our love for Porsche and particularly air-cooled 911's began… fun times… but one wet and potentially oil spilled day we drove our 3.2 Carrera to our day design job at the time, but sadly on an outside lane coming off a roundabout, we saw our ass pass before our eyes did a 360 through the central reservation into oncoming traffic… at times like that you really do see things in slow motion and it looked like it was gonna be expensive... luckily everyone was ok, expect perhaps for our pride and our beautiful Carrera…
Was it an oil spill? Was it a heavy foot? No one knows and we’re sure as hell not gonna confess to a lack of driving talent… the car was fixed better than new, sold and then 17 long years passed in the wilderness, without a car that ignited our passions…
...that itch for an air-cooled 911 was always there, missing the roar of the air-cooled engine, the passion never dying, once it gets under your skin, it's there and there for good…
in those ears, we worked hard, saved and saved and then eventually a listing for a 79 3.0 SC came up, we travelled the length of the UK to get to her, quickly snapping here up before the dealers snagged her, sure she was older more raw than our 1988 3.2 but we had to have her… so now we’re back behind the wheel of one of Stuttgart’s finest, we’re older, wider and but perhaps a little wiser too… now we drive, we tinker & we obsess with our air-cooled 911.
Our background is design, illustration & crafting, these skills combined with our personal automotive outlaw passions made for the perfect storm to create Outlaw Gear, which started with an idea, a simple sketch which features on one of our tees, a sketch that we know one of our fellow outlaws has since had tattooed, we'll leave that for another time...
